what’s up tools another update so [Music] soon yes indeedy guys we have another Makita update but this one contains just two tools one has already been released and I forgot to put it in yesterday’s update and the other one has only been released as a patent today now that’s today when I’m filming this so it’ll be yesterday at least by the time you see it you know what I mean but it’s a patent of a tool that you guys have all been waiting for and depending what I decide to put on the thumbnail of this video you um probably already know what that is anyway first up the one that has already been released and it’s another one that you’ve all been waiting for a Makita cordless belt sander and it is of course a 40 volt one and it uses 76 x 533 mm belts or 3 INX 21 in and it looks quite quite a beast it’s got a nice light on the front there as you can see and they’re claiming that you’ll get 30% more work efficiency than the AC version weighs uh 4.7 kgs with a 4 amp battery and you’re probably only going to be able to use up to a 5 a battery on this from what I can see with the size of the handle and maybe the way that they’ve designed where you put on the battery itself uh and as you can see the handle rotates through multiple different angles there I like that you can use it up against a wall that’s handy nice thin design there and it will come with a dust bag but you can of course also hook it up to AWS it is of course variable speed and the LED light on the front is also tiltable which is nice cuz LED lights don’t always point the way you want them to so you can put it straight ahead or you can tilt it down 22 1/2 or 45° which is cool you can also flip it over and with some attachments which are optional accessories of course you can use it as a bench sander you might need to prop it up on some wood Dove use a 5 a hour battery cuz it’s not going to sit that nice it has of course AWS built into it like I’ve already said it’s ipx6 rated the ip56 rating there on the screen is for the battery not the tool whenever you see it like that with the two the ip56 is the battery and sanding Douglas fur on the top speed setting five with a 4 a battery with 3 kgs of downward pressure an 80 grip paper you’ll get 12 minutes of run time so that is the BS 001g cordless belt sander from Makita you can also get a separate wide sanding shoe to help prevent the belts digging in I often find when using a belt sander that you can be going along removing material nicely and you think you’re almost there and then just a little tilt of the sander and you put a big Groove into your material that creates a lot more sanding so that large sanding shoe is something that I would be quite interested in so let me know down below what you think of that belt sander it looks quite chunky quite you know quite well built compared to a lot of the belt Sanders that are around which do look a bit plasticky and feel a bit you know not all that good so it’ll be interesting to see how this one compares to the other ones I’ve tried and the other ones I’ve got got another 36v one here sitting waiting to go to put it up again so let me know what you think and that is the um tool that I was meant to put in yesterday’s video and somehow forgot thank you to the person on patreon who reminded me speaking of patreon the links down there if you’re interested in that or up here you’ll get these videos earlier than everybody on YouTube and you’ll get them they’ll be a bit longer you know they’ll have like a bit more swearing and stuff in them potentially and little bits that I end up cutting out for certain reasons that you know maybe they’re not YouTube friendly and what have you so if you’re interested in that as well as the odd other video that never makes it onto YouTube at all check out the link down in the description and now now on to the second part of this video for the past few years there has been three Makita tools that I get asked about on a daily basis number one was the framing nailer until it was revealed at World of Concrete in the US earlier this year after that came the 40 volt multitool which is now available in some regions as of right now and the third one is this one that’s right a cordless table saw Makita have neglected table saws for a long time and to be honest they’ve never really pulled off a good one this one that we’re looking at right now is certainly a substandard tool for Makita now like I said earlier this patent has just been published but it was actually filed in February this year now it’s not too spectacular and a lot of it focuses on the mechanism for raising and tilting the blade it looks like it will have a rack and pinion style fence attached front and back for accuracy and stability so that looks good but the most interesting feature is that which is shown in the bottom right hand corner of this picture yes your eyes don’t deceive you that is in fact a 40 Vol battery it’s pictured with an 8 amp battery so if it is to scale which you assume it would be in a patent that would make the blade 216 mm or 8 and A2 in by my calculation I would have loved to have seen a 10in or even a 12in saw with maybe 80 volts you know two batteries two 40 volt batteries running it that would be an awesome bit of kit but it’s a start I guess to have this 216 mil with a 40 volt battery from the pictures it looks like it will have a ring knife and probably different guards depending on different regions of the world the patent seems to be focused primarily on getting the most depth of cut when the blade is tilted and the mechanism required to do that but at least it looks like Makita are actually working on an xgt table saw okay so now you can stop asking me about it in the comments well I know
